Torhuad Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Torhuad Restaurant in the heart of Hat Yai offers a quiet invitation into a spacious, thoughtfully kept environment where the pace slows just enough for you to settle in. The dining room feels warm without being crowded, the kind of place where families and friends gather to share more than just a meal. There’s an unspoken sense of tradition here – a respectful nod to the art of Chinese cuisine woven seamlessly with a welcoming, everyday comfort.
The atmosphere is calm but lively in the best way: gentle conversations hum in the background, waitstaff move attentively but without rush, and the layout offers room to breathe, both literally and figuratively. It’s a place that balances the gentle buzz of a well-loved local restaurant with a quiet dignity, inviting you to linger over dishes that carry stories of careful preparation and cultural depth.
Torhuad's menu speaks to those who appreciate culinary details that go beyond the usual. Rather than overwhelming with choices, it presents rich flavors that feel grounded in tradition—whether it's the delicate textures of steamed fish, the crispy skin and tender meat of expertly roasted duck, or the comforting heartiness of slow-cooked pork paired with soft mantou buns. These dishes are meant to be savored slowly, shared in bites over conversation, paired not just with taste but with moments of connection.
The restaurant’s ambience and food quality have drawn locals who often bring special guests here, making it a quietly cherished venue for important gatherings. The respect for ingredients and preparation shines through without ostentation, reflected in the care for presentation and the attentive, unobtrusive service. Here, dining feels like a shared experience rather than a hurried transaction, a space where the food and the company take center stage in perfect balance.
Parking is convenient and the environment clean and well maintained, reinforcing the impression of a place that values its patrons’ comfort and ease. Whether you come with family, friends, or business acquaintances, Torhuad gently encourages you to slow down, appreciate each course, and enjoy the subtle rhythms of a meal that feels both familiar and special.

A full service restaurant where locals bring their guests for Chinese food. The suckling pig is the highlight of our meal. Glutinous rice with yam and gingko dessert was awesomely delicious as well.

A pretty big Chinese restaurant serving many types of delicacies. Restaurant is old but well maintained, place is clean and service is top notch.--4* We wanted to try their suckling piglet but was told they only sell whole piglet. Only two of us so we decided to try their Peking Duck. The skin is crisp with duck fats aroma, dipping sauce is tad watery in viscosity. The dough skin is pretty soft but the spring onion is young and crunchy. Presentation is not that enticing but taste wise is not too bad.The duck meat is fried in black pepper sauce which is very average --4* The Shark Find is braised with this delicious broth, it is tasty and well balance. --4.5* Not a bad choice if you are tire of Thai foods in Hat Yai.
